My Shark Story – How Not To Go Snorkeling in Mexico

My Shark Story - How Not To Go Snorkeling in Mexico

You all know I love Mexico. I celebrated my 50th birthday on the Riviera Maya earlier this year. About 10 years ago, my friend Viv and I thought we’d have a little girls’ trip down to Tulum to celebrate her 40th, just the two of us. We were in desperate need of a vacation, a drink, and some quality relaxation time. What we ended up with was 3 or 4 relaxing days and then on our last day we ended up almost killing ourselves!

We spent our first days at the resort either lounging in the cabana and staring out into the clear blue waters, hailing the cabana boy, or perching at the fabulous swim-up bar and sampling tequila, fruity tropical drinks and mojitos. You get the idea. And then… Then, I decided we needed to go snorkeling, and it all kinda went downhill from there.

My Shark Story - How Not To Go Snorkeling in Mexico

It all started with snorkeling and sea turtles, but quickly devolved into sharks, potential alcohol poisoning, and two grown women who 10 years later are still not permitted to go off on any trips by themselves! Viv has a blog called The V Spot and you can read all the details of our Shark Story here.
